Guide Settle it: Abyssal harpoon or Ancient bark spear?

Been running the Abyssal harpoon (Spear) but everyone keeps pushing the Ancient bark spear (Spear). For those who've used both -- which actually wins, and in what situation?

This plus 'get your gear out and actually use it' is basically the whole game.

Half agree on the Ancient bark spear. Depends heavily on how you play.
