Discussion 'Steam charts' doom posting is exhausting - the game's fine, play it or don't

Every week someone posts a screenshot of the player count like it's a death certificate. The game shipped last year, it's had a big update, people are still raiding. If you're bored, that's allowed - go play something else. But the daily 'LoOk aT tHe ChArTs, dead game' bit isn't analysis, it's just doom for engagement. I'm here to trade and shoot robots, not attend a funeral for a game I played this morning.

The doom cycle is predictable: patch drops, a nerf annoys people, charts dip on a weekday, doomers frame it as terminal. Meanwhile the retention curve looks normal for the genre. Boredom is real; 'dead game' is a mood, not a metric.

I read the patch notes so you don't have to (you should though).

i'll complain about the store until i'm blue in the face but yeah the 'dead game' spam is dishonest. i'm angry BECAUSE i still play it every day, that's the whole point

Every section on this board has its own version of this thread. Nice to see someone say the quiet part: criticism good, funeral cosplay bad.
